Philip Chang
As the Media Relations Advisor to The Voices and Faces Project, Philip Chang works to ensure that the project’s victim-focused mission and vision are accurately represented in the press, while supporting and advising our survivor-participants when they choose to share their stories with the media. Equally important, Philip works "behind the scenes" to debunk the myths about rape that are too often perpetuated by the media, informing media outlets on the facts and statistics about sexual assault while making an impassioned case for a more humane, dignified and diverse media representation of survivors.
As a strategic communications consultant to Fortune 500 companies, Philip's skill at developing programs in the private sector has translated well to The Voices and Faces Project. He is passionate in his belief that the right kind of media coverage can change minds and hearts, resulting in a cultural climate that responds more compassionately to victims. It’s a results-oriented focus that has helped The Voices and Faces Project reach millions of survivors through the power of the mainstream media.
"There is so much false information in the public space about sexual assault," says Philip. "Through its initiatives and the amazing courage of these survivors, The Voices and Faces Project is finding new ways of telling the larger story, and stimulating fresh thinking about an issue that people have not learned enough about."
