The Voices and Faces Project's testimonial writing workshop for survivors of sexual violence, domestic violence and trafficking
Every survivor story has power and purpose. During "The Stories We Tell," a two-day writing workshop, survivors will read and discuss testimonial writing, reflect on how to share their own stories, and engage in a series of innovative writing exercises. With a focus on memoir, fiction, non-fiction and poetry, "The Stories We Tell" was created to support those who seek to use writing as a vehicle for personal or political change.

About the workshop instructor and facilitator.
Workshop creator and instructor R. Clifton Spargo is an award‐winning fiction writer and author of the forthcoming novel Beautiful Fools: The Last Affair of Zelda and Scott Fitzgerald (Overlook Press, May 2013). An Arts Fellow at the Iowa Writers' Workshop, he is the author or editor of several books on the Holocaust, ethics, and modern literature and culture.

Anne K. Ream is a writer whose essays and opinion pieces have been featured in the Chicago Tribune, the Los Angeles Times, Washingtonpost.com, and numerous other publications. She is a past finalist for the Dorothea Lange-Paul Taylor Documentary Prize for her profiles of sexual violence survivors, and the founder of The Voices and Faces Project.

The Voices and Faces Project, recently named one of "America's Best Charities" by the board of directors of Independent Charities of America, has been recognized by the United States Department of Justice as part of the "new generation" of anti-violence leaders. We're working to change minds, hearts and social policy by helping survivors to tell their stories and by introducing those stories into the public square. We need your support to continue our work.
Special thanks to our Chicago workshop sponsors: Verizon Wireless, Christa Desir, and Courtney and Guy Comer.
