Javier Otero joined The Voices and Faces Project as Technology Partner in early 2015.
His goal is to improve the use of technology and social media in the organization to increase the reach of its mission. He is a passionate feminist, looking to make ripples in an industry already laden with issues of gender and race equality.
Javier, a Chicago-based iOS software engineer and graphic designer, is an award-winning developer and an experienced leader devoted to the creation of functional, intuitive, and meaningful products. He has published over 20 applications to the App Store. Most recently, Morsel, a social network for culinary professionals. He was the Senior Creative Developer on Fly Delta for iPad, which received high accolades from FastCompany, Gizmodo, Mashable, CNBC, and USA Today for the innovative Destination Globe and Glass Bottom Jet. He also utilized OpenGL ES in WWF Together for iPad, a gorgeous application focused on the stories of endangered animals across the world, that received a prestigious Apple Design Award in 2013. He currently works with Eight Bit Studios as a Senior iOS Engineer and mentors students of the Mobile Makers academy.
Javier obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration from Ringling School of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida in 2006.
