Powerful, purposeful, and theatrical: Join The Voices and Faces Project and Stories On Stage at Words = Change.
Words = Change — a collaboration between Stories on Stage and The Voices and Faces Project — will feature memoir, poetry, creative non-fiction, and fiction that highlights the impact of inequality, injustice, and gender-based violence on young girls and women. Read aloud by young professional actors, these pieces were crafted by teen and young adult graduates of the The Voices and Faces Project's "Stories We Tell" testimonial writing workshops offered at Chicago's Juvenile Temporary Detention Center, Young Women's Leadership Charter School, University of Chicago, Barnard College, and Northwestern University.

Aperture Foundation, Ackerman Institute for the Family, and The Voices and Faces Project are collaborating on a weekend long New York City program series that seeks to help survivors of gender-based violence or other human rights violations use art and writing to create social change. "The Stories We Tell," The Voices and Faces Project's two-day testimonial writing workshop, will be a featured offering in the programming series. The workshop is being led by program co-creators Anne K. Ream, the founder of The Voices and Faces Project and author of Lived Through This, a narrative and photographic memoir of a multi-country journey spent listening to the testimonies of gender-based violence survivors, and R. Clifton Spargo, a novelist, cultural critic, and Iowa Writer's Workshop alumnus whose work focuses on trauma, testimony, and the memory of injustice. Applications are required.
